Hauz Khas to CP, Delhi Has a Million Singles and No Good Events

Delhi is where half the country goes to study and the other half goes to work. DU North Campus, JNU, IIT Delhi, Jamia. Every autumn a new wave of 18 year olds arrives and by second year they’re regulars at Hauz Khas Social. The dating pool is enormous but the scene is weirdly fragmented. South Delhi doesn’t talk to East Delhi. Rohini doesn’t mix with Dwarka. Gurgaon thinks it’s a different city entirely.

The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. Delhi / New Delhi has the audience, the comedy infrastructure, and the appetite for live entertainment. This is the show that fills the gap between the apps and the aunty network.

Connaught Place still has the best energy for a night out, and the comedy scene in Delhi has exploded. Canvas Laugh Club, The Habitat, and a dozen basement venues in Shahpur Jat host standup every week. The audience for live, unscripted entertainment already exists. We’re just adding romance to the mix.

The NCR dating problem is specific: too many options, too little follow through. Everyone’s on Bumble, everyone’s "open to meeting someone," and nobody actually does anything about it because the city is so big that even getting to a date requires logistical planning. A show concentrates all that scattered energy into one room for one night.
