The Best Indian Dating Apps Ranked by Someone Who’s Tried Them All

Every year there’s a new app, a new pitch, a new promise to finally solve South Asian dating. I’ve watched this space closely for four years while running Garam Masala Dating, and I’ve talked to hundreds of people about what they’re using and whether it’s working. Here’s my honest ranking of the Indian dating app landscape in 2026, including a few options that might surprise you.

Methodology: how I’m ranking these

I’m not ranking by marketing copy or app store ratings. I’m ranking by one question: how likely is a real South Asian single in the US to find a real relationship here? That means I’m weighing user base size, cultural context, match quality, conversation conversion, and what I hear from actual users at our shows and in our contestant applications.

1. Dil Mil — best for South Asian cultural context in major metros

Dil Mil is still the flagship. Around a million users, South Asian-specific matching, and cultural context baked into the experience. Its major weakness is thin pools outside of major metros. If you’re in NYC, Chicago, Houston, the Bay Area, or Toronto, Dil Mil is worth being on. If you’re not, it may frustrate you. As I covered in my honest Dil Mil review, the app is best when combined with realistic expectations about volume.

2. Hinge — best for volume and major metro reach

Hinge is the second-largest dating app in the US and has a substantial Indian user base. The prompts format creates better conversation starters than Dil Mil, and the pool is much larger. The cost is cultural dilution — you’ll spend more time filtering for cultural fit. Best used alongside Dil Mil, not instead of it. I’ve written more about why Hinge specifically struggles for Indian users and what you can do about it.

3. Aisle — best for high intent

Aisle charges for connections, which filters for intent in a way free apps don’t. If you’re done with casual swiping and you want to be matched with someone who is genuinely looking for a relationship, Aisle’s friction is a feature. The South Asian focus is real. The user base skews about 70% male, which affects the experience depending on your gender. Best for: people who’ve tried the free apps and want something more deliberate.

4. Muzz — best for Muslim South Asians

For Muslim South Asians, Muzz is in a category of its own. 15 million users globally, real features for halal dating, and a community that understands the specific constraints and expectations of Muslim dating. The chaperon mode is genuinely thoughtful. If you’re Muslim and South Asian, Muzz should be your primary app before everything else.

5. Salams — high volume for Muslim singles with caveats

Salams has 6 million users and is the main Muzz competitor for Muslim South Asians. The gender imbalance (roughly 80% male) is significant. Women will have more matches than they can handle. Men face steep competition. Worth using alongside Muzz if you’re Muslim, with adjusted expectations.

6. Ishq — best signal-to-noise ratio (if you can get in)

Ishq launched in October 2024 as an invite-only South Asian dating app. The exclusivity keeps the pool curated and the intent level high. It’s too early to rank definitively, but the early reports are encouraging. If you have an invite or know someone who can get you one, it’s worth trying.

7. Yuzu — new entry from Match Group

Yuzu launched in February 2024 from Match Group, targeting Asian Americans broadly. It’s backed by the largest dating company in the world, which means distribution and resources. Whether the cultural calibration is actually right for South Asian users is still TBD. Watch this space.

The honest thing about all of these apps

None of them solve the fundamental problem, which is that chemistry doesn’t transmit over text. You can optimize your profile, use every filter available, and still end up on a date where nothing clicks. The apps are a sorting mechanism. They are not a connection mechanism. The connection has to happen in person.

Which is why if you’re in NYC and you’re tired of the ranking and the optimizing, come to Garam Masala Dating. It’s not an app. It’s a room full of South Asian singles who showed up to actually meet people. The show gives you three live blind dates to watch. The mixer gives you everyone else. Apply to be on stage or just buy a ticket and come see it. Either way, you’re in the room.
