Fiji has one of the most unique South Asian stories in the world. Indo-Fijians make up roughly a third of the country's population, descendants of indentured labourers brought from India in the 1800s. The community is predominantly from Bihar, Eastern UP, and parts of South India, with a culture that's evolved into something distinctly Fijian while retaining deep Indian roots. Suva and Nadi are the centres.
The format from New York: real dates happen on stage, the audience votes, and a mixer follows where the whole room connects. Fiji's Indo-Fijian identity blends Hindi traditions with Pacific Island warmth, and the show would speak to that specific fusion rather than importing something generic from India or the West.
The University of the South Pacific in Suva is the academic hub, and Nadi's tourism and agriculture industries employ a large Indo-Fijian workforce. The community is tight, which means everyone's families know each other and the concept of meeting someone outside the established network is both exciting and nerve wracking.
Indo-Fijian culture blends Hindi and Fiji Hindi with indigenous Fijian influences. The food, the music, the festivals are all hybrid in a way that people from mainland India don't always recognize immediately. A show in Fiji would celebrate that specific identity.

Indo-Fijian culture is a 150 year love story with no dating scene
Indo-Fijians built one of the most distinct desi cultures on earth: Fiji Hindi, girmit history, chutney music and a community that is over a third of the country. The social structures remain deeply communal, and the singles path runs through family introductions or emigration, with Auckland and Sydney absorbing a generation of Fiji's young desi talent partly because the social opportunities left first.
A Fiji show honours the culture where it lives. The diaspora flies home for weddings; a night this good is a lighter excuse.
What a Garam Masala night in Fiji looks like
A USP graduate and a Nadi hotelier who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while an Indo-Fijian crowd brings kava-session warmth and wedding-tent volume to the votes. Comedian hosts, live chaos and a mixer where the islands' hospitality does the rest.

Questions About Fiji Shows
When is Garam Masala Dating coming to Fiji?
Fiji is on our Pacific Islands tour list. and we will notify you as soon as we confirm a date.
Would the show be in Suva or Nadi?
We are considering both cities. Suva has the larger population centre while Nadi has strong tourism infrastructure. Waitlist numbers from each city will help us decide.
Can I apply to be a contestant on stage?
Yes. Use the apply link on this page to submit your application. Indo-Fijian applicants from Suva and Nadi are both welcome, and the blend of Pacific Island warmth and Hindi culture makes for exactly the kind of contestant the show is built around.
Is there Indian speed dating in Fiji?
Indo-Fijian social life runs through family, temple, mosque and community networks nearly 150 years deep. Formal singles events have never existed here. A live show fits the culture's love of a big occasion far better anyway.
Where do Indo-Fijian singles actually meet?
Family functions, festival season, USP's campus in Suva and the diaspora pipeline to Auckland and Sydney. Many of Fiji's singles meet their partners abroad by default. A home event changes the default.
Suva or Nadi for the show?
Suva has USP and the government crowd, Nadi has the west and the airport. The dream is both ends of Viti Levu in one tour week, and the waitlists decide the order.
