Trinidad has the largest Indian diaspora community in the Caribbean. Indo-Trinidadians make up roughly 35 percent of the population, descended from indentured labourers who arrived after the abolition of slavery. The community is concentrated in central Trinidad, Chaguanas, Couva, and San Fernando, with a cultural identity that blends Indian traditions with Caribbean swagger. Divali Nagar is the biggest Indian cultural festival in the Western Hemisphere outside of India.
The format from New York: real dates happen on stage, the audience votes, and a mixer wraps the evening. Trinidad's chutney soca music, doubles vendors, and Divali Nagar already prove the culture is thriving. This show adds the one thing that's been missing: a proper singles event built for Indo-Trinidadians.
UWI St. Augustine is the academic hub, and the energy, manufacturing, and finance sectors employ Indo-Trinidadian professionals. The community is multigenerational, politically active, and culturally confident. Soca and chutney music, doubles and roti, Carnival and Indian Arrival Day. The fusion is the identity.
