Virginia Tech's engineering and computer science programs have built one of the largest Indian grad student populations in the Southeast. Blacksburg is a small town in the mountains of southwest Virginia, and if you're desi and single here, your world is the university. The department. The lab. Maybe the one Indian restaurant in town. The dating pool recycles itself every semester.
The format from New York is built for college towns: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the audience watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole room mingles. In Blacksburg, where the social options for South Asian singles can be counted on one hand, this is the event the community has been missing.
The isolation works both ways though. When you're in Blacksburg, there's a togetherness that doesn't exist in a big city. The desi community here is tight. People look out for each other. They show up. A live dating show in this kind of environment would have a completely different energy than the big city version, and honestly that's part of the appeal.
We're looking at Blacksburg for a future tour stop. Hokies take care of their own, and this community deserves an event that's built for them. Get on the waitlist for first access, or apply to be a contestant. The New River Valley doesn't have to be lonely.
Virginia Tech built a desi enclave in the mountains
Tech's engineering and computer science programs import Indian graduate students at a scale that reshaped Blacksburg: entire apartment complexes run desi, the cricket fields are booked solid and the grocery run to the international store is a social event. The isolation that makes the New River Valley beautiful also makes it romantically brutal. The app radius hits mountains in every direction and the community is tight enough that a bad first date follows you to your defense.
College towns this concentrated are our best rooms. Everyone comes, everyone knows the stakes and the mixer runs on the shared relief of finally having an occasion.

No. The show draws working professionals and students alike. Anyone who is single and interested is welcome. The crowd in New York skews mid 20s to mid 30s.

Is there Indian speed dating in Blacksburg?
The New River Valley has graduate mixers and ISA events, which everyone attends and nobody meets anyone at. A live show with real blind dates is a different gravity entirely, especially in a town with one social calendar.
Where do Indian students at Virginia Tech actually meet?
Department clusters, apartment complexes off Prices Fork and the same three spots downtown. Tech's Indian grad population is one of the largest in the country and the town gives it exactly nowhere designed for dating.
Would people really drive in from Roanoke?
For the New River Valley's first live dating show? Roanoke, Christiansburg and Radford will all be represented, and the 81 corridor carpools will be their own matchmaking layer.
