Masaryk to VUT, Brno's Desi Students Get a Night Out
Brno has a growing South Asian community of students and professionals contributing to the city's international character
Waitlist signups determine where we announce next.
Brno is the Czech Republic's second city and its university capital. Masaryk University and Brno University of Technology (BUT) together attract a substantial international student body, including Indian students in IT, engineering, and the sciences. The city's tech sector has grown significantly, with Red Hat, Kiwi.com, and a cluster of software companies establishing offices here. The cost of living is lower than Prague, the quality of life is arguably higher, and the Indian community is growing in parallel with the tech jobs.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Brno, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
The Spilberk area, the Namesti Svobody square, and the student bars along Veselka Street make up the social geography. Moravian wine culture adds a sophistication that Prague's beer-only reputation doesn't capture. The Indian community here is younger and more academic than professional, which means the audience skews toward postgrads and early career professionals. That's a sweet spot for a dating show.
Brno is two hours from Vienna, three from Budapest, and ninety minutes from Prague. The Central European positioning means a show here could draw curious attendees from three countries. The Brno Expat Centre actively helps internationals integrate, but dating events for specific communities don't exist. We're building what's missing.
