Wellawatte has the concentration of desi culture: the restaurants along Galle Road, the textile shops, the temples. But the modern Colombo social scene has shifted to the Colombo 7 and Rajagiriya areas, with rooftop bars, cafes, and a nightlife that's been quietly growing since the economic recovery started.
