If you're desi and single here, your dating radius is about three square miles of bike paths and study spots. The cultural organizations do good work building community, but the dating options in a small college town max out fast. You know everyone. Everyone knows you. Davis is a small town with a big university's dating problem
UC Davis brings a large Indian and South Asian enrollment into a town that is functionally a campus with zoning. The social geography is famously tiny: everyone bikes the same streets, studies in the same buildings and swipes through the same dozen profiles until the app becomes a yearbook. The escape options are Sacramento, mild, or the Bay, far, and neither happens on a grad student schedule.
