Riga Stradins University (RSU) is the primary reason Riga has a South Asian community. The university's English language medical programme has attracted Indian students for over a decade, and the alumni network now includes Indian doctors practising across Europe who did their training in this Art Nouveau filled Baltic capital. The medical students form a visible community in the Centrs district and around the RSU campus in Dzirciems.

The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Riga, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.

The University of Latvia and Riga Technical University add a smaller number of Indian students in other disciplines, and the city's growing IT sector employs some South Asian professionals. The Old Town, with its cobblestoned streets and medieval architecture, is one of the best preserved in northern Europe. The nightlife along Barona Iela and in the Quiet Centre is lively, affordable, and welcoming to international crowds.

Latvia can feel remote from the desi mainstream. The nearest large Indian community is in Helsinki or Stockholm, both a short flight away. That isolation makes community events more important, not less. A dating show in Riga would serve people who've been underserved since the day they arrived.

Waitlist is open. Riga is part of our Baltic expansion alongside Vilnius and Tallinn. or apply to be a contestant.

Riga's desi scene is one medical school deep

Riga Stradins University's English-language medical programs constitute Latvia's desi story almost entirely: cohorts of Indian and South Asian students on six-year MD timelines, socialising in batch groups and studying through Baltic winters. The city offers art nouveau architecture, a compact old town and no formats for the one thing student life keeps postponing.

One show serves the entire national scene, batch barriers dissolved for an evening, and the mixer doubles as inter-year diplomacy.

What a Garam Masala night in Riga looks like

A fourth-year and a second-year who have never met, despite sharing a building for years, on stage, going on a first date while Latvia's desi medical corps reacts with differential diagnosis energy. Comedian hosts, live votes and a Miera iela mixer that respects no study schedule.
