KU Leuven is the largest university in Belgium and one of the oldest in Europe, and its engineering and science programmes attract a consistent stream of Indian students and researchers. IMEC, the semiconductor research institute headquartered here, is a global leader in nanoelectronics and employs Indian engineers and scientists in numbers that would surprise people who've never heard of the place. This tiny Flemish city punches way above its weight in terms of concentrated brainpower.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Leuven, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
The IMEC campus and the university's Arenberg Science Park are where most Indian professionals and students spend their days. The transition from clean rooms and labs to the cobblestoned streets of the city centre is jarring in the best way. But the social life doesn't bridge those worlds naturally. Scientists hang out with scientists. MBA students hang out with MBA students. A show that mixes those circles creates connections that the university's structure doesn't.
Leuven is twenty minutes from Brussels by train and close to Antwerp. The Flemish Brabant region has a combined South Asian population that makes a show viable, drawing from across central Belgium. The beer is excellent, the waffles are mandatory, and the audience will be enthusiastic.

Leuven packs KU Leuven's six-century-old university and imec's world-leading chip research into a town where every third person has a doctorate in progress. The Indian research cohort is substantial and calendar-bound, and Belgian student social life, circles and fakbars, absorbs internationals slowly at best.
A show on the Oude Markt's doorstep gives the research crowd its one scheduled evening of unscheduled outcomes.
