Lisbon has a unique South Asian connection through Goa. The Portuguese Goan community has ties to Lisbon stretching back centuries, and that historical link adds a layer that other European cities don’t have. More recently, Lisbon’s tech boom and golden visa programs have attracted Indian professionals and entrepreneurs. The Martim Moniz area is the multicultural hub where South Asian groceries and restaurants cluster.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Lisbon, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
Lisbon’s startup scene has drawn a wave of digital nomads and remote workers, including a notable number of Indian tech professionals. The cost of living (relative to London or Paris), the weather, and the quality of life make Lisbon attractive. But the social scene for South Asians is thin. A few Diwali parties, a couple of restaurants, and that’s about it.
The Portuguese are warm and social, which makes Lisbon easier to navigate than northern European capitals. The live live dating show fits the city’s vibe. People here actually want to go out and have a good time.

Lisbon's desi story is five centuries deep and socially split
Lisbon's South Asian layers span history: Goan-Portuguese families whose roots predate most nations, the Gujarati and Sindhi trading community around Martim Moniz and a new wave of Indian founders and engineers riding the startup and visa boom. Each layer has singles, each has its own circuits and no event has ever combined them.
One show merges five hundred years of desi Lisbon with its newest arrivals, on hills that do the romance staging for free.
