Rusholme’s Curry Mile is iconic but Manchester’s South Asian community extends way beyond one stretch of Wilmslow Road. Longsight, Levenshulme, Cheetham Hill, and out into Oldham and Rochdale. The Pakistani and Indian populations here are massive, multigenerational, and culturally distinct from London’s desi scene in ways that matter for a dating show.

The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Manchester, where the desi community has depth but no dedicated singles programming, this format creates exactly the concentrated energy the city needs.

University of Manchester is one of the biggest universities in the UK and its South Asian student population is significant. Add Manchester Met, Salford, and the young professional crowd, and you’ve got a city full of people who are done with the apps but haven’t found an alternative that speaks to their experience.

Manchester’s nightlife and comedy scene are already top tier. This city understands live entertainment. A dating show with comedy energy isn’t a stretch here, it’s overdue. The Frog and Bucket, the Comedy Store, and a hundred other rooms have trained this audience to show up for a good time.

Waitlist is live. Manchester is one of our top targets in the UK. Get on it, or apply to be on stage when we arrive.

Manchester's desi scene is big enough to be three scenes

Manchester holds the North's largest South Asian population and it runs in layers that rarely touch: the university cohorts cycling through Fallowfield and Oxford Road, the young professionals in Ancoats and Salford Quays and the deep-rooted communities of Rusholme, Longsight and the satellite towns. Each layer dates inside itself on the same exhausted apps, and the city's legendary night economy offers everything except a desi singles night.

One show stacks the layers in a single room. Manchester's live audience culture, trained by decades of music and comedy, does the rest.

What a Garam Masala night in Manchester looks like

A UoM postgrad and a MediaCity producer who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while a room that treats heckling as a love language reacts in real time. Comedian hosts, live votes and a Northern Quarter mixer that Manchester will simply refuse to end on time.

UoM and MMU circles, Spinningfields and MediaCity offices, Rusholme for food runs and the Northern Quarter where the desi crowd finds itself on weekends. Big scene, no anchor event. We anchor.

Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale and Stockport are all a tram or short drive away, and their young British Asians already do their nights out in town. A central Manchester room is effectively a Greater Manchester room.
