Manila's Indian community has been part of the city for generations. The Sindhis in the textile trade, the Punjabis in the import business, and the newer wave of IT and BPO professionals have created a layered community that spans old Manila and the modern towers of Makati and BGC. The Indian Association of the Philippines hosts cultural events, but the social programming for singles is essentially nonexistent.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while a packed room watches, reacts, and picks favorites. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. Manila's nightlife in Poblacion, Makati, and BGC is as vibrant as anywhere in Asia. The city loves entertainment, spectacle, and events with personality. A desi dating show fits the Manila energy perfectly.
UP Diliman, Ateneo, and De La Salle have South Asian students, and the call center and outsourcing industries employ Indian managers and trainers. The South Asian professional population in Metro Manila is concentrated in Makati, Taguig (BGC), and Ortigas. They go to the same Indian restaurants in Jupiter Street, attend the same Diwali events, and wonder why the dating scene feels so circular.
