New Orleans has a tiny South Asian community, but this city's energy makes it one of the most interesting places we could bring this show. The Tulane and UNO campuses have a South Asian student presence, Metairie has a small established desi community, and the broader culture of NOLA is so inherently social and performance driven that a live dating show feels like it belongs here more than anywhere.
The format from New York would hit differently in NOLA. Real contestants go on live dates on stage while the audience watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole room mingles. In a city that already knows how to throw a party, this is just a different kind of party. South Asian spices meet Louisiana seasoning.
The beauty of doing this show in a smaller community is that it becomes an event. Not just another night out, but the night out. When the desi community in a city this size comes together for something specific, everyone knows about it and everyone shows up. The room will be intimate, the energy will be high, and the cultural crossover between desi and NOLA vibes will be unlike anything we've done before.
We're gauging interest for New Orleans. Tulane students, UNO grads, Metairie families, and anyone in the Louisiana desi community. Get on the waitlist, or apply to be a contestant below.
The live desi dating show in the city that invented jazz, Mardi Gras, and the concept of having too much fun on a weeknight. This was inevitable.
NOLA's tiny desi scene lives in the best party city on earth
New Orleans holds a small South Asian community anchored by Tulane, LSU Health and Ochsner's hospital system, plus the Metairie families who have run the community institutions for decades. Small scenes in big-energy cities have a specific dating problem: the community events are intimate enough that bringing romantic intent feels like a violation, so everyone performs platonic warmth forever while quietly swiping on a pool the size of a krewe.
A show gives the scene plausible deniability and a stage. It is a comedy night, officially. What the mixer does after is between you and the city.
What a Garam Masala night in New Orleans looks like
A Tulane public health researcher and an Ochsner resident who have never met, on stage, going on a first date in a city that considers watching strangers fall in love a spectator sport with refreshments. Live votes, comedian hosts and a mixer that migrates toward Frenchmen Street the way all good NOLA nights do.
