Rotterdam has a significant Surinamese Hindustani population, particularly in Feijenoord and Charlois on the south bank. The community has deep roots here, with cultural associations, temples, and a food scene that blends Surinamese and South Asian flavours in ways that are genuinely unique. Erasmus University adds international students, many from India, to the mix.

In Rotterdam, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.

Rotterdam’s personality is different from Amsterdam’s. It’s grittier, more working class, and proud of it. The South Asian community here reflects that. Less tech startup, more established families and young professionals in logistics, healthcare, and the port economy. A dating show for this crowd would have a different energy than Amsterdam. Both are good.

The Randstad corridor means shows in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague could run as a circuit. The communities overlap but aren’t identical, and the train connections make it easy for people to attend whichever show fits their schedule.
