Indiana University has a significant South Asian student population, and Bloomington is the kind of college town where everyone ends up at the same few places on Kirkwood Avenue every weekend. If you're desi and single here, you've probably exhausted the obvious options. The cultural orgs are great for community but not designed for dating. The bars are fine but not exactly where you go to find a South Asian partner.

The format from New York is built for college towns: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the audience watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole room mingles. It's a night out that actually produces results, and Bloomington's creative, open energy makes it a natural fit.

Bloomington's charm is that it's small enough to feel like home but big enough to have a real social scene. The IU campus brings in new people every year, and the town has a creative, open energy that most college towns wish they had. A desi dating show fits right into that.

We're gauging interest for a Bloomington show. and you'll be first to know when we announce. If you want to be a contestant and go on a live date in front of your campus, apply below. IU desi community, let's see what you've got.

Bloomington's charm has a dating-shaped hole

IU gives Bloomington a real South Asian community: Kelley and Luddy pull in students from every corner of the diaspora, the cultural orgs are active and B-town's compact, walkable core makes the social life easy. The dating layer is the missing part. Circles are small, context is total and the only alternatives are apps that run out of new faces by October or a drive to Indy that nobody makes twice.

A live show in a town like this converts the smallness into electricity. The room will contain everyone's mutuals, and that is exactly why the votes and the mixer will run hot.

What a Garam Masala night in Bloomington looks like

Two Hoosiers who have never met, a Kelley MBA and a Luddy PhD maybe, on stage, going on a first date while a room of mutuals reacts with zero poker face. Comedian hosts, live votes and a mixer that pours out onto Kirkwood after, because in Bloomington everything does.

Questions About Bloomington Shows

When is Garam Masala Dating coming to Bloomington?

No date confirmed yet. We are gauging interest through the waitlist. IU's desi community makes Bloomington a candidate.

Will people come from Indianapolis?

Possibly. College town shows often draw from the broader region. The waitlist helps us confirm the demand.

Can I apply to be a contestant?

Yes. Apply now. Applications stay active for 12 months. Bloomington applicants will be prioritized when we confirm a date.

Is there Indian speed dating in Bloomington?

IU's desi scene runs on cultural shows and org events, not dating events. In a town built around one campus, the first real singles night becomes the story of the semester, and we are happy to be the story.

Where do IU desi students actually meet?

Kelley team rooms, Luddy labs, the Sample Gates coffee circuit and Kirkwood on weekends. Small circles, endless mutuals and no format for turning familiarity into a date. That is our entire niche.

Is Bloomington too small for this?

College towns are our best rooms precisely because they are small: everyone hears about it, everyone comes and the mixer is the whole desi scene in one bar. Small is the strategy.
