Cleveland's South Asian community is smaller than Columbus or Chicago, but it's tight and it's loyal. Brecksville, Strongsville, Westlake. The medical corridor around the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals has drawn Indian doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals for decades. Case Western brings in South Asian grad students every year. The people are here. The social scene for singles has just never caught up.

Cleveland's desi scene runs on hospital time
The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals import South Asian residents, fellows and attendings on a conveyor that never stops, and CWRU adds the grad student layer. The result is a desi community whose single members work 70 hour weeks, live within two miles of a hospital and have social calendars made entirely of shift trades. The settled families out in Solon, Westlake and Brecksville run a parallel world of community events the residents never see.
A show collapses the parallel worlds for one night and hands the hospital crowd the only thing their schedule lacks: an occasion worth protecting a Saturday for.
