EPFL is the reason Lausanne has a South Asian community. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is consistently ranked among the top ten universities in Europe, and its engineering, computer science, and life sciences programmes attract Indian students, postdocs, and faculty. The campus on the shores of Lake Geneva is stunning, and the research output is world class. The Indian researchers here are some of the best in their fields, and they can't find a date to save their lives.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Lausanne, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
The Indian community here is concentrated around EPFL's campus in Ecublens and in the affordable (relatively, this is Switzerland) apartments of Renens and Prilly. The university's Innovation Park adds startup founders and tech workers. The social scene revolves around lab group dinners, EPFL's Satellite bar, and occasional events organized by the Indian student association. For singles, that's not enough.
Geneva is forty minutes away by train, and the Lake Geneva arc from Lausanne to Geneva creates a corridor of international institutions, tech companies, and universities with a combined South Asian population worth gathering. A show in Lausanne pulls from this entire arc.
Waitlist is open. Lausanne is part of our Swiss expansion alongside Zurich and Geneva. or apply to be a contestant.
The Léman arc's desi scientists optimise everything but this
EPFL made Lausanne a global research destination and its Indian cohort, roboticists, data scientists, life science researchers, is among the campus' largest international groups. Swiss Romandy is a degree warmer than Zurich socially, which still leaves the desi transplants with lab groups, lake sunsets and no formats.
One show along the lake gives the arc's desi researchers the experiment their methods sections never allowed: uncontrolled variables, live audience, immediate results.
What a Garam Masala night in Lausanne looks like
An EPFL robotics PhD and a med-tech engineer who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while the Léman arc's desi scene reacts with peer-review rigour and prosecco. Comedian hosts, live votes and a lakefront mixer as the Alps do their evening show across the water.
