Milan’s South Asian community is shaped by the city’s industries. Indian professionals work in fashion, finance, and the growing tech sector, while Politecnico di Milano and Bocconi attract Indian students in engineering and business. The Porta Venezia and Via Padova areas have South Asian grocery shops and restaurants, and the community, while smaller than London or Amsterdam, is established enough to sustain a dedicated event.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Milan, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
Italian dating culture is expressive, social, and public. Milanese style adds a layer of sophistication (or pretension, depending on who you ask). South Asians in Milan navigate between that Italian expressiveness and their own cultural backgrounds, and the result is a community that’s stylish, sociable, and tired of explaining their heritage on first dates with people who don’t get it.
The show removes that friction. A room full of people who share your cultural context, who get the references, who understand why your mom calls every Sunday to ask about your personal life. That shared understanding is the foundation of every connection the show facilitates.
Waitlist is open. Milan is part of our southern Europe plans. or apply to be a contestant.
Milan's desi professionals blend in too well
Milan hosts Italy's most professional desi scene: Politecnico and Bocconi graduates staying for fashion, finance and design careers, layered over the Porta Venezia community's established commerce and Lombardy's broader Indian population, Italy's largest. The city's aperitivo culture is superb at ambient socialising and terrible at introductions, and the desi singles disperse into it nightly, unmet.
A show concentrates the dispersed. Milan's production standards will be honoured, and the mixer's spritz logistics are already scoped.
What a Garam Masala night in Milan looks like
A Bocconi consultant and a Porta Venezia-raised designer who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while Italy's sharpest-dressed desi crowd reacts with runway composure and stadium volume in alternation. Comedian hosts, live votes and a Navigli mixer as the canals do their evening act.
