Madison has a unique desi pipeline. UW's South Asian student body is significant, but the bigger story is Epic Systems in Verona. Epic has been hiring Indian engineers and consultants for years, and a large chunk of them are in their 20s and 30s, single, and living in a mid-sized Wisconsin city where the dating options are limited. Epic built a desi campus town and forgot the exits
Epic recruits thousands of young engineers and analysts, a hefty share of them South Asian, straight out of college into a spaceship campus in Verona, twenty minutes from downtown Madison. The company provides everything except a social life outside itself, and dating a coworker at a company that intense is a documented hazard. Meanwhile UW's desi grad community runs its own parallel loop on the isthmus, and the two populations, ten miles apart, essentially never meet.
One downtown show merges the bubbles. Epic gets an exit, UW gets fresh faces and Madison's desi singles finally have an event that is not a sprint planning meeting.

Epic's Verona campus, UW labs, State Street and the Capitol Square loop. The Epic crowd famously lives in a company bubble twenty minutes out of town, which makes a neutral downtown room the entire value proposition.
Is this an Epic employees event?
No, it is a Madison event that Epic employees will heavily attend, which is different and healthier. UW students, hospital staff and the Verona commuters all get the same room and the same mixer.
