Iowa City is small, walkable, and culturally interesting for a Midwest college town. But if you're desi and single here, you've probably realized that the dating pool is the size of a puddle. Everyone in your program already knows everyone else, and the broader town doesn't exactly have a thriving desi singles scene.
The format from New York is built for exactly this kind of market: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the audience watches and reacts. Afterward, everyone mingles. It's fun, it's chaotic, and it's better than whatever you're doing on a Tuesday night in Iowa City. College towns need this kind of concentrated energy.
