Mumbai has comedy clubs on every other block in Bandra, a standup scene that’s basically a second film industry at this point, and somehow zero live dating shows. The city where half the country moves to "make it" has millions of single people packed into local trains every morning, brushing shoulders with someone they’ll never speak to. That’s the gap.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. Mumbai has the audience, the comedy infrastructure, and the appetite for live entertainment. This is the show that fills the gap between the apps and the aunty network.
The crowd we’re building for: the IIT Bombay and NMIMS grads working at Bandra Kurla Complex, the Xavier’s alumni who never left South Bombay, the Andheri tech workers who spend weekends at Versova beach pretending they’ll "go out tonight" and then order in. Professionals in their mid 20s to early 30s who are done with Hinge but won’t let their parents set them up on Shaadi.com either.
Lower Parel’s comedy venues, the Bandra bar scene, Juhu’s social crowd. Mumbai already has the nightlife infrastructure and the audience appetite for live entertainment. What it doesn’t have is a singles event that’s actually fun, culturally specific, and not a cringe corporate mixer with nametags.
We’re building the Mumbai waitlist. Get on it for first access when we announce, or apply to be a contestant. This city is going to be loud.
Mumbai built India's comedy scene and skipped the dating show
Mumbai has more live comedy per square kilometre than anywhere in Asia: clubs across Bandra, Andheri and Lower Parel, open mics nightly and an audience trained to give and take. Its dating scene never got the same infrastructure. The apps churn, the singles brunches feel like LinkedIn with mimosas and the actual romantic energy of the city, which Bollywood exports globally, has no live format of its own.
A comedy dating show in the city that taught India to laugh live is a homecoming. The format was practically designed in Mumbai's image before we ever staged it in New York.
What a Garam Masala night in Mumbai looks like
A Bandra creative and a Powai product manager who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while a crowd fluent in Hinglish heckling reacts at local-train density. Comedian hosts, live votes and a mixer that spills toward Carter Road as the night cools.

Questions About Mumbai Shows
When is Garam Masala Dating coming to Mumbai?
No date confirmed yet. Mumbai is on our India expansion radar. to be notified first.
Will the show be in English or Hindi?
The show runs primarily in English with local flavor mixed in. The format adapts to each city.
Can I apply to be a contestant?
Yes. Apply now. Applications stay active for 12 months. Mumbai applicants will be prioritized when we confirm a date.
Is there speed dating in Mumbai?
Mumbai has speed dating startups, singles brunches and app-brand pop-ups, and they all fight the same problem: cold rooms. A live comedy dating show warms 250 people together first, which is why the mixer works where the formats before it stalled.
Where do Mumbai singles actually meet?
Bandra's cafes, Lower Parel's offices, comedy clubs three nights a week and apps whose pools somehow feel small in a city of twenty million. The scene has everything except a night that ends in actual introductions.
Which venue scene fits the show?
Mumbai invented India's comedy club circuit, so the rooms exist from Bandra to Lower Parel. The city's stand-up literacy means the crowd work will be the best in India, and we do not say that lightly.
