Birmingham has the largest South Asian population of any UK city outside London. Handsworth and Sparkhill have been the anchors for decades, with thriving Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Indian communities that have shaped the city’s culture from the food to the music to the politics. The Balti Triangle alone tells you everything about how deep desi culture runs here.

The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Birmingham, where the desi community has depth but no dedicated singles programming, this format creates exactly the concentrated energy the city needs.

Brum’s dating scene for South Asians has the same problem as most UK cities: community events are family oriented, the apps recycle the same faces, and the nights out are either too mainstream or too niche. Young British Asians in Birmingham are caught between tradition and modern dating in a way that’s very specific and very relatable. This show speaks to that tension.

The University of Birmingham and Aston University feed a steady stream of South Asian graduates into the city. Couple that with the established multigenerational communities and you’ve got a room that’s going to have a fascinating mix of backgrounds, accents, and stories.

Waitlist is open. Birmingham is one of our top priority UK cities. for first access, or apply to be a contestant.

The second city has the UK's second biggest desi scene and no first move

Birmingham's South Asian communities built whole districts: Sparkhill, Small Heath, Handsworth and the Balti Triangle's food legacy, layered across Pakistani, Indian, Kashmiri and Bangladeshi lines. The social calendar is enormous and entirely communal: melas, Eid events, weddings that occupy entire postcodes. For singles the machinery offers two speeds, formal marriage events or nothing, and an entire generation of second and third gen Brummies opts for nothing.

A live show slots exactly between those speeds: public enough to be respectable, fun enough to be worth a Saturday and a mixer where nobody's chacha is taking notes.
