Omaha and Lincoln have a small but growing South Asian community. UNL pulls in Indian graduate students, Creighton has its own contingent, and the broader Omaha tech and finance scene (this is Warren Buffett's city, after all) has been attracting Indian professionals quietly for years. It's not a city that comes up in conversations about desi hubs, but the people who are here know the community exists.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the audience watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In smaller Midwestern cities like Omaha, where you sometimes feel like you're the only South Asian single person around, this format proves you're not. The community is here. It just needs a catalyst.
The reality of being South Asian and single in a smaller Midwestern city is that you sometimes feel like you're the only one. You're not. The community is here, it's just spread out and there hasn't been a catalyst to bring everyone together in one room. This show is that catalyst.
We're building the Omaha and Lincoln waitlist. Get on it to be first in line when we announce a show. If you want to be a contestant, apply below. Nebraska desi community, let's make some noise.
Nebraska's desi singles are split between two quiet cities
Omaha and Lincoln hold Nebraska's South Asian community between them: UNMC's medical machine and the insurance and banking employers in Omaha, UNL's graduate programs and state government in Lincoln. Both scenes are small, professional and completely without singles infrastructure, and each assumes the interesting people are in the other city. The apps confirm nothing because nobody's radius covers both.
One show, one room, both cities. The discovery that Nebraska's desi dating pool is twice what either city believed is worth the ticket alone.
What a Garam Masala night in Omaha looks like
A UNMC resident and a Lincoln software engineer who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while the whole state's desi scene votes in one room for the first time. Comedian hosts, live chaos and a mixer where 'you drove in too?' does the icebreaking.

Questions About Omaha Shows
When is Garam Masala Dating coming to Omaha?
No date confirmed yet. We are gauging interest through the waitlist. Omaha's growing desi community puts it on our radar.
Will the show draw from Lincoln too?
Yes. An Omaha show would draw from the broader Nebraska South Asian community including Lincoln and the UNL crowd.
Can I apply to be a contestant?
Yes. Apply now. Applications stay active for 12 months. Nebraska applicants will be prioritized when we confirm a date.
Is there Indian speed dating in Omaha?
Nebraska has no desi singles events at all, which means the first one is automatically statewide news in the community. We are comfortable being news.
Where do South Asian singles in Nebraska actually meet?
UNMC and the hospital systems, UNL's grad circles in Lincoln, the insurance and banking floors downtown and community events where the median attendee is a family of four. The singles have no room of their own between the two cities.
Omaha or Lincoln for the show?
Omaha most likely, with Lincoln fifty minutes down I-80 and heavily represented. One Nebraska room covers both scenes, and the carpools are half the fun.
