Lund University's Desi Students Need More Than AF Borgen

Lund University is one of Scandinavia's largest and most prestigious universities, and it's the reason this small city in southern Sweden has a notable South Asian population. The engineering faculty (LTH), the medical faculty, and the natural sciences attract Indian students, researchers, and postdocs. The MAX IV Laboratory and the European Spallation Source (ESS), both cutting edge research facilities built on the outskirts of the city, have brought in scientists from across the world, including India.

Garam Masala Dating is the #1 live South Asian dating show and singles mixer from NYC. Real blind dates on stage, two hosts, a live audience, and a mixer. Lund has about 95,000 people and roughly 40,000 of them are connected to the university. It's a company town where the company is knowledge, and the Indian community fits neatly into that academic identity.

The Akademiska Foreningen and the student nations provide social structure, but the international student community often exists on the periphery of these Swedish traditions. Indian students in Lund form tight groups by default, and those groups become the dating pool by extension. When your dating pool overlaps entirely with your study group, things get complicated fast. This show introduces people who aren't already in each other's lab rotations.

Malmo is fifteen minutes by train and Copenhagen is forty minutes across the Oresund Bridge. The greater Oresund region's combined South Asian population is significant, and a show in Lund pulls from all of it. The geography is in our favour.
