Lund University is one of Scandinavia's largest and most prestigious universities, and it's the reason this small city in southern Sweden has a notable South Asian population. The engineering faculty (LTH), the medical faculty, and the natural sciences attract Indian students, researchers, and postdocs. The MAX IV Laboratory and the European Spallation Source (ESS), both cutting edge research facilities built on the outskirts of the city, have brought in scientists from across the world, including India.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Lund, this format is designed to concentrate the scattered desi community into one room for one night, creating connections that the apps and expat mixers never deliver.
The Akademiska Foreningen and the student nations provide social structure, but the international student community often exists on the periphery of these Swedish traditions. Indian students in Lund form tight groups by default, and those groups become the dating pool by extension. When your dating pool overlaps entirely with your study group, things get complicated fast. This show introduces people who aren't already in each other's lab rotations.
