University of East Anglia has been quietly building a solid South Asian student population, especially in pharmacy, medicine, and the Norwich Research Park connected programs. The campus is a self contained world on the western edge of the city, and the desi students who land here often find Norwich charming but socially isolating if you’re looking to meet people outside your course.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Norwich, where the desi community has depth but no dedicated singles programming, this format creates exactly the concentrated energy the city needs.
Norwich is geographically isolated by UK standards. It’s not on the way to anywhere. You don’t pass through Norwich. You go to Norwich on purpose. That isolation means the people who are here have committed to being here, and the South Asian community, while small, is concentrated enough that a focused event can reach everyone.
The Norwich Lanes, the market, the cathedral quarter. It’s a city with genuine character and a cultural scene that punches above its weight. The literary festival, the comedy shows at The Playhouse, and the UEA arts scene all suggest an audience that appreciates live, creative events. This show fits that culture.

Norwich's desi scene is small, settled and completely unserved
UEA built Norwich's South Asian community through its science and health programs, and the Norfolk and Norwich hospital keeps a share local after graduation. East Anglia's geography does the rest: not on the way to anywhere, two hours from London and a local desi social calendar consisting of one Diwali event and personal initiative. The singles who stay genuinely love the city and date as if it has no other desis in it, which is false and fixable.
A fine city, as the sign says, deserves a fine night. The first one becomes the fixture by default.
What a Garam Masala night in Norwich looks like
A UEA researcher and an NNUH doctor who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while East Anglia's entire desi scene reacts in one room off the lanes. Comedian hosts, live votes and a mixer where the medieval streets handle the after-hours wandering.

No date confirmed yet. Norwich is on our UK expansion radar. to be notified first.
Will the show be in English?
Yes. The show runs in English. Norwich is an English-speaking city and UEA's South Asian students are studying in the language. The community here is small but close-knit, and an English-language live event is both accessible and genuinely novel for this audience.
Can I apply to be a contestant?
Yes. Apply now. Applications stay active for 12 months. Norwich applicants will be prioritized when we confirm a date.
Is there Indian speed dating in Norwich?
East Anglia's desi singles have UEA circles and a two hour train to London. Norwich's isolation means the first desi singles night here instantly owns the entire region's calendar.
Where do South Asian singles in Norwich actually meet?
UEA's campus, the Norfolk and Norwich hospital and the lanes on weekends. Compact scene, committed residents and zero desi occasions in living memory.
Does Norwich's isolation help or hurt?
Helps enormously. Nobody passes through Norwich, so everyone in the room chose to be there, and rooms full of people who committed always outperform rooms full of people who wandered in.
