Glasgow’s Southside has been the home of Scotland’s South Asian community for decades. Pollokshields, Govanhill, and the surrounding areas have a concentration of Pakistani, Indian, and Bangladeshi families that’s shaped Glasgow’s culture in ways the city is genuinely proud of. The food scene alone tells the story. This isn’t a new community. It’s one of the most established in the UK.
The format from New York: real contestants go on live dates on stage while the room watches and reacts. Afterward, the whole crowd mingles. In Glasgow, where the desi community has depth but no dedicated singles programming, this format creates exactly the concentrated energy the city needs.
University of Glasgow and Strathclyde bring in South Asian students, but Glasgow’s real desi dating audience is the second and third generation British Asians who grew up on the Southside. They know the community, they love the community, and they’d like to find someone without their auntie being involved at every stage.
Glasgow’s comedy scene is legendary. The Stand Comedy Club, the Comedy Festival, and a city that just fundamentally appreciates a good night out with sharp humour. The live live dating show with comedy energy is basically what Glasgow was built for.
Waitlist is open. Glasgow is going to be one of the best shows on the UK tour and we’re not being polite about that, we mean it. or apply to be a contestant.
Pollokshields built Scottish Asian life and kept it family-shaped
Glasgow's Southside has anchored Scotland's South Asian community for three generations: Pollokshields' Punjabi and Pakistani families, the mosques and gurdwaras, the wedding halls and a food scene that quietly outperforms cities twice the size. The community's social life is rich and entirely family-structured, while the young singles split their time between university circles and a Glasgow nightlife with no desi lane at all.
Glaswegians are constitutionally incapable of being a quiet audience, which makes this the single best crowd-format fit on the UK map. The room will run itself.
What a Garam Masala night in Glasgow looks like
A Strathclyde engineering grad and a Southside-raised teacher who have never met, on stage, going on a first date while a Glasgow crowd provides colour commentary that borders on co-hosting. Comedian hosts, live votes and a mixer where the patter does the matchmaking.

Questions About Glasgow Shows
When is Garam Masala Dating coming to Glasgow?
No date confirmed yet. Glasgow is on our UK expansion radar. to be notified first.
Will the show be in English?
Yes. The show runs in English, which is Glasgow's everyday language. The Southside's British Asian community, Pakistani and Indian, is second and third generation and fully at home in English with a Glaswegian accent that absolutely no one complains about.
Can I apply to be a contestant?
Yes. Apply now. Applications stay active for 12 months. Glasgow applicants will be prioritized when we confirm a date.
Is there Asian speed dating in Glasgow?
Scotland's Asian singles events are rare and Edinburgh-shy. Glasgow's Southside community plus two universities is the country's densest desi pool, and it has never had a singles night with actual entertainment attached. First mover, us.
Where do British Asian singles in Glasgow actually meet?
Pollokshields and Southside community life, Glasgow Uni and Strathclyde circles and West End nights where the desi crowd finds itself. Three generations deep and still no dedicated event. That ends with one booking.
Will Edinburgh people make the trip?
Fifty minutes on the train and Glasgow's crowds are better craic anyway, which we are legally allowed to say because Glasgow told us. A Scottish show serves the whole central belt.
